I had the pleasure of working with Elle and Nala recently. I volunteer at a local shelter taking pictures of homeless animals in an effort to get them adopted or rescued. On 12/22/12, I took a picture of then 5-6 month old Nala, and posted her to my Facebook page. One of my friends (Julie) contacted me right away with questions about her. She traveled from a good distance away to meet Nala, fell in love, and adopted her that afternoon. Here is the first picture:
Cut away to over 5 years later, and here is beautiful Nala with Julie's daughter Elle in a photoshoot we did out in the high desert.
Elle is a very creative individual. I have worked with her in the past, and reached out to her about this project, knowing that she would be amazing to work with. She created the look and hand made Nana's collar and her crown. She does amazing work, and is an accomplished make up artist too. More of her work is here: Elleology
I shot the whole shoot with just 1 camera/lens combo, the Nikon D850 and Nikon 70-200 f/2.8 vrII. Shot late in the afternoon with a low sun, the lighting was exquisite. The floral arrangements really pop off the desert tones backdrop, and we found an amazing Joshua Tree to play against.
My normal workflow consists almost entirely of processing in Lightroom, but with this shoot, I pushed myself to create in Photoshop. I opened all the images in LR, made my selects, and basically only cropped and adjusted exposure and color temperature as need be, then made all the other adjustments in PS, before coming back to LR for export and watermark.
I love what we created and had a blast collaborating with Elle. I hope to do more with her in the future.
